Palak Paneer- Spinach curry with cottage cheese

Palak paneer is my all time favorite. I feel that its one of the guilt free curry you can have with Naan brushed with lot of butter :).

I rarely find fresh spinach at stores in KL.Please let me know any place in KL where we can buy spinach regularly. Ok except Pasar Malam ( famous weekly night market in Malaysia). The nearest Pasar Malam market is actually not so near to my place, so I usually buy vegetables from stores.  I mostly use frozen spinach which is the that best alternative for fresh spinach I have here.

Well coming to the recipe. Its very mild,creamy and greeny :)  Please try , I am sure you are going to love this recipe.

  • 2 cup Spinach after boiling( or frozen)
  • 250 gm Paneer
  • 1½ tablespoon oil
  • 1 medium size tomatoes finely chopped
  • 1 large onion finely chopped
  • 3-4 garlic cloves finely chopped
  • ½ inch ginger peice finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala powder
  • ¼ teaspoon tumaric powder
  • 2 tablespoon fresh cream
  • slat to taste
  • %For Garam masala
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon coriander seeds
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 black gadamom
  • 2 star Anise
  • 2 Dry red chilies
  1. Key ingredients
  2. Boil spinach and drain water
  3. Make paste
  4. Cut paneer (Cottage cheese) in small cubes
  5. Heat oil in pan, add cumin seeds,garlic ,ginger and all the ingredients listed in garam masala section
  6. Add chopped onion
  7. sauté on a medium flame for 2 minutes. add chopped tomato
  8. again sauté on a medium flame for 2 minutes. Add spinach paste. Mix well and cook it for 2-3 minutes
  9. Add Paneer (cottage cheese) cubes ,garam masala powder and cook it for 3-4 minutes
  10. Palak paneer is ready
