There are verities of maize recipes you get in India, specially in winter. Talking about winter, my hometown has a culture of street side food stalls, and many restaurants serve hot fritters in winter. Just imagine having hot fritters with your friends, standing at the corner of the shop in cold winter evening and gossiping … :). We used to have fritters regularly while coming back from the tuition. It’s one of kind culture my small town has.
You make this on any occasion. It’s a perfect snack you can have anytime in a day. I bet all your family members will love this including the kids. Serve fritters with spicy chutney or with sour cream. We always prefer mint chutney. There are varieties of chutney recipes available on MyWayToCook.
There are different ways to make fritters. Some people cook it in nugget style. If you want to cook that way then it’s a different recipe and method. Corn nugget can be cooked with some filling like cheese.

This time recipe and photos are shared by my sister and brother in law. They have slightly changed the recipes, instead of deep frying fritters they grilled it. But results were as good as the deep fried fritters.
Corn fritters recipe, How to make corn fritters recipe
Ingredients
- 4 cup corn
- 2 tablespoon gram flour
- 1 tablespoon ginger grated
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 cup coriander chopped
- 1 tablespoon green chilies chopped
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 1 to tomato
- 1/2 cup spring onion chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic chopped
- 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
- salt as per taste
Instructions
- Grate corn cobs
- finely Chopp onion,tommatoe,ginger ,corainder , green chilis and garlic
- Mix all the ingredient listed in the ingredient list in grated corn(paste)
- Make small patties and cook over griddle using oil.
- Cook from both the sides untill a nice golden crust appears
- Serve with tomato souce
Notes
- Add 1 tablespoon gram flour or all-purpose flour if you find the mix very watery.
- Cook it on medium heat so that you get more crusty fritter.
- You can add more chopped vegetable if you like. I prefer spinach if I have it available in my pantry.
